Description[]
“ | Chaotic Commands renders a creature immune to magical commands. Suggestion, Charm, Domination, Command, Sleep, Maze, and Confusion are all spells that fit into this category. This spell also protects the target from Psionic Blast. This spell affects only 1 creature and lasts for the duration or until dispelled. | ” |
Gameplay[]
- Chaotic Commands bestows immunities to the following Status Effects for an extended period: Stun, Hold creature 2, Unconsciousness/sleep, Paralyze, Charmed, Confused, and Feeblemindedness.
- It provides immunity to the Wizard spell Maze.
- It will also protect against equivalent effects with different names (Chaos, Rigid Thinking, Domination, Dire Charm etc.)
- It will not cure any status effects; it must be cast before the recipient would be affected.
- It does not protect against panic / fear.
- It also does nothing against effects that don't target the mind, like web or entangle. Those would require Free Action to defend against.
- Chaotic Commands is especially effective against mind flayers, protecting against all of their status attacks (Psionic Blast, Psionic Domination, and Psionic Maze). It does not protect against their intelligence draining "Devour Brain" or other damaging abilities.

While under the effects of this spell, the recipient becomes immune to magical commands. Charm, Command, Confusion, Domination, Hold, and Sleep are all spells that fit into this category. This spell also protects from psionic mind attacks such as a mind flayer’s Psionic Blast, but it will not confer complete immunity to psionics. This effect will last for the duration of the spell or until dispelled.
The Sword Coast Stratagems mod provides mind flayers with several other Psionic Abilities which Chaotic Commands will not protect against, although there are other spells and items which can assist with those.
