Wands are consumable enchanted items charged with magical energy to unleash one or more specific magical effects when activated. Though much like a scroll in concept, wands are typically multi-use and may not have an effect that is a specific spell.

This is a technical category for items, which is used by stores to determine if they buy an item or not (ID: 35).

Usability[]

Mages, Sorcerers, and Bards have the widest variety of wands, but for other classes the selection is more limited. Like many items, a wand is typically usable if a multi-class character has at least one class that can use it. With regard to single class users, when Fighters are listed as invalid users, typically it also means that Paladins and Rangers are as well, and when a Mage cannot, typically neither can a Sorcerer.

Value[]

The item value listed for wands on their page is the price before any discounts and/or markups for a fully charged wand. When sold in at a vendor containing less than full charges, the price will be discounted proportionately.

Charges[]

A wand that has more than one function (such as Wand of Fire) will have separate charge pools for each of the functions and it will vanish from inventory if any of the pools reach 0 charges, regardless of the amount left in other pools.

While a wand cannot technically be recharged, it is possible to sell the wand to a shop and buy it back with more charges. If the vendor does not sell that wand, it will default to full charges when repurchased, otherwise it will match whichever version of the wand is currently sold. Be prepared to pay a great deal, as highly charged wands can be quite expensive, although the usual adjustments to shop price do apply.

Note: A work-around to existing wand stock at the vendor would be to purchase all copies and then sell them back to gain full charges.
