Spell protection removers

Spell protection removers are attacks that aim to remove all effects created by spells or abilities of the Spell protections type. Some such attacks get rid of effects coming from all spells or abilities that were used to protect the target creature — like Spellstrike, while others only attempt to remove effects coming from one, usually of the highest level they are powerful enough to destroy — like Secret Word. Spell protection removers are not stopped by magic resistance.

Most spell protection removers are of the Magic attack type.

Spell Shield will negate a single spell protection remover before that can apply its effect (so even spells like Spellstrike that are supposed to remove all protections at once will get thwarted by it), but is consumed in the process.

Only arcane caster classes (Sorcerers, Mages, Bards) can cast spell protection removers, meaning that other classes have no way of dealing with spell protections (but they don't really need to if they don't rely on spells to do damage, since physical attacks are not stopped by spell protections). Exception: Thief with Use Any Item can also cast spell protection removers from scrolls.

In the Enhanced Edition, spell protection removers can target enemies under Improved Invisibility who could not be targeted by any other single-target spells.^[1]

Note: Dead Magic rooms in the Watcher's Keep Labyrinth do not belong here, meaning Spell protections cast before entering such rooms will not be removed — those few vulnerable to Dispel Magic excepted.
