Illusion/Phantasm is a school of magic. Illusionists, the Specialist Mages of this school, are able to cast any spell in this category better than other mages, forcing targets to make Saving throws with an extra -2 penalty where saves are allowed. Similarly, any spell or ability in this category used against an Illusionist Mage will let them pass their saves with an extra +2 bonus.

Spells and abilities of the Illusion/Phantasm school grant various illusory effects to one or several targets which can be protective — like Mirror Image, or crippling — like Nature's Beauty. While these effects are often vulnerable to Dispel Magic or also belong to the Illusionary protections type, it is not necessarily the case.

The only abilities that explicitly aim to destroy effects created by Illusion/Phantasm spells or abilities are:

Removes all effects up to level
Detect Illusion (spell) 3
Moon Dog Sight 5
Oracle 5
Book of Infinite Spells 9
Gem of Seeing 9
Potion of Clairvoyance 9
Thieves' Hood 9
True Seeing 9
True Sight 9
Thief skill: Detect Illusion 9

All of them bar the Thief Detect Illusion skill affect enemies only — illusions on neutral and allied creatures are unaffected. The Thief skill affects both neutral and hostile creatures.[1]

A couple enemy-only Illusion/Phantasm abilities are not registered to this category for lack of a dedicated Wiki article. They were listed manually below:

  1. Dispel Magic can usually help against Neutral illusions when a thief is unavailable or the magic is not of the Illusion school.
