The contents of these books varies in significance:
- Insignificant trivia – these are books that contain information on other events in Faerûn's history. You do not need to read them, but if you're into Forgotten Realms, you'll find them quite interesting.
- Significant trivia – these books contain information that is relevant to the storyline, and may help you solve clues and puzzles in the game.
- Quest – these books contain a variety of things but they all can be used to complete various quests.
- Tomes – these books increase certain Ability Scores of the reader.
