The Bone Wardstone is needed to disable the carpet trap in the rune carpet room located on labyrinth level 4 beneath Durlag's Tower. It is found in the trapped kiln in the center of the forge room. Inserting into the machine in the machine room will disable the trap.
Note: While the ward stone is flagged as critical item, it is not essential for progress as it is very easy to just walk around the carpet if you are careful. But if you accidently trip the trap...whoa nelly!

- The wardstone is only needed once to disable the trap. It can then be discarded as no merchant, wizard, or thief will buy it from you.
