Not to be confused with Bone Fiend.
Bone Golems are a type of Golem fashioned from bones, serving as counterparts to Flesh Golems. They are quite popular with necromancers for reasons that should be obvious. They only appear in Shadows of Amn where they resemble enormous, hunch-backed skeletons with elongated, mantis-like bladed arms, making them easy to discern from the other golem types.
Gameplay[]
Bone golems can only be harmed by magical or enchanted weapons. Like a skeleton, a bone golem has 50% resistance to slashing and piercing damage, and like a Demilich, they are immune to all spells and effects from Power levels 1 through 9.
They also have 50% resistance to Missile damage, 100% resistance to Fire, Cold, Electric, Acid and Poison damage as well as 100% Magic resistance.
Note that despite their appearance, these golems are not Undead creatures.
Locations[]
Bone golems are one of the rarest golem types in the game. They can be found at the following locations:
- The Tanner's Shop Dock in the Bridge District in Athkatla, as part of the quest Solve the "skinner" murders in the Bridge District - only appears if the party leader has an EXP value of at least 1,000,000.
- The Ghoul town from the Unseeing Eye quest - only between 1 and 2 million EXP.
- Spellhold Bodhi's Hunt Level 2
- The Chapel in the Ruined Temple
- Underwater City

Mod content[]
Installation of the Dungeon Crawl mod will pit the party against several Bone Golems.
Installation of the Sword Coast Stratagems mod adds extra Bone Golems to spawned undead encounters, to go along with any spawned Lich creatures. An example would be during the Investigate the Deaths in the Umar Hills questline, and the Ruined Temple. There may be two Liches, and if so, at least two Bone Golems. Two liches may be in Spellhold Bodhi's Hunt Level 2, and therefore two Bone Golems also.
Installation of the Golem Construction for Spellcasters mod provides certain dropped bone fragment components when a Bone Golem is destroyed - components needed to construct your own Bone Golem variety.
Also with this mod, a Bone Golem is bestowed with an innate ability spell effect that casts an area of effect Panic around itself called "Hideous Laughter". Each enemy creature exposed to the Horror must save vs. spell with a -2 penalty or suffer a panic effect for a variable duration. The Hideous Laughter bypasses spell protections and magic resistance. It is a Necromancy School and disabling type spell. It cannot be dispelled.
