Bone Club is a unique Club +2 in Baldur's Gate II: Shadows of Amn.
Description[]
“ | This vicious club was created hundreds of years ago, reportedly by a shaman on a quest for revenge. His family had fallen to undead, and so personal was his rage that he amputated his own leg, using the femur for the body of the weapon. Magical runes empower it, though it is likely the sheer force of the shaman's hatred would have served on its own. | ” |
Gameplay[]
This weapon can only be acquired as part of the questions and answers process conducted by the Spellhold apparitions and the process of proving to these apparitions that the party is sane enough to be released from the Asylum. There are several dialogue options that can make this event not occur, and a few that lead to a specific "test" that will place the party in the Troll Cave (Spellhold Test) Cave area. See that page for further details.
Typically, if the party selects "Nothing, A River, Fear, and Memory" responses to the apparition questions, then the Troll Cave test will be initiated.
The Bone Club is treated as a +3 enchanted weapon when used against undead, but its speed factor matches that of a non-magical Club.
Notes[]
- Despite the description, "Bone Club +2, +3 vs. Undead", the weapon has no dedicated enchantment bonus in the game's classic version, only the THAC0 and damage bonuses are applied. Thus, in terms what it can strike in the game, it counts as a +2 weapon only vs. undead.
