Bolt of Glory is a 6th level priest spell that creates a bolt of holy energy which deals variable damage against the targeted creature based on its nature or plane of existence.

Description[]

By casting this spell, the priest channels a bolt of divine energy against the target. No attack roll is needed. Creatures struck suffer varying damage, depending on their plane of origin:

Gameplay[]

The caster applies this spell toward a single creature, using the cursor to select it.

When the spell casting is finished, a bright projectile fires from the caster's hands and unerringly strikes the target with a "glory bolt" 3D effect rendered briefly upon the victim.

The victim suffers Magical damage of a varying random quantity based on the creature's "general IDS" classification or "race IDS" classification.

Some examples include, Undead, Elemental, githyanki, Djinni, Efreeti, Salamander, Tiefling, Imp, Demonic, Antisolar, Dark Planetar, and more etc.

The Bolt of Glory is unaffected by Magic resistance.

This spell can be blocked by a Spell protections type defense, such as a Spell Deflection or Shield of the Archons.

As this spell is classified as an "offensive damage" type, the Cloak of Mirroring will either reflect it or deflect it, depending on the player's game version.

It can also be reflected back at the caster with an active Spell Turning in place.

This bolt is flagged as a hostile spell.

Trivia[]

The Advanced Dungeons and Dragons 2nd Edition Priest spell Bolt of Glory gives a more detailed breakdown of the various planes of existence than the BG video game spell version. For instance, the Positive, Negative, Astral and Ethereal Planes of existence are accounted for. This spell is granted by Heironcous the Invincible, of the World of Greyhawk setting, and by Torm, god of duty, of the Forgotten Realms setting.

The quantity of damage inflicted by the bolt differs in the PnP spell version compared to the video game's spell.
