A Blur spell causes the outline of the caster's form to waver and shift.
Description[]
“ | When a Blur spell is cast, the wizard causes the outline of his form to become blurred, shifting and wavering. This distortion causes all missile and melee attacks against the caster to be made with a -3 penalty. The wizard also gains a +1 bonus to all of his Saving Throws. | ” |
Gameplay[]
- In the original games, multiple instances of Blur could stack; this isn't the case in the Enhanced Editions.
- Contrary to the description, Blur does not impose a THAC0 penalty on enemies, but merely grants an AC bonus to caster. While in most cases the end result is the same, it matters when AC cap is reached.
- Most (competent) enemy wizards will use this spell, and certain bosses have items that imparts its effects when a map is loaded.
- As an illusionary protection, certain divination magic and the Detect Illusion skill can remove it from hostile creatures.
