Colored globes are produced by interacting with the Globe Machine, located on the Watcher's Keep Final Seal dungeon level.

Select which globe color is desired in the dialogue box presented by the machine. The machine can produce red, blue, green and purple globes, and a limit of four of each color.

When the button is pressed to select a globe, the dialogue box displays a text, reading:

The machine clicks and whirs and produces a blue globe, which you pick up. Suddenly, you hear strange sounds almost beyond your range of hearing. The sounds rapidly get louder as something approaches.

Description[]

This surprisingly light sphere is approximately the size of an ogre's head. Apart from the color, there are no distinguishing marks or features of any kind.

Blue globes - gameplay[]

All four blue globes look identical, except three of them will have a numeric "1" displayed on them, indicating a use "charge". This means that particular globe is a consumable/usable item.

As there isn't any information about what the globes do, the party would need to experiment and see the results. This feature is avoided by the wiki filling in that information.

Even so, it may prove difficult to remember which globe does what, especially later in the adventure when managing an inventory. It will be up to the player to come up with some kind of tracking method.

  • The first globe produced can launch a modified cone of cold at a single targeted creature, with a range of 8-feet. It inflicts 16d3 Cold damage in a cone-shaped AoE, and a save versus wands halves the damage. The cone has no spell school or secondary type, as well as a power level 0, and therefore won't interact with spell protections. Unfortunately, Magic resistance can block it.
  • The second globe produced can cast version of Greater Restoration spell on a single target with a range of 1-foot, and then fully heals it. It increases the user's Fatigue by 6 instead of 7 for the "real" spell. (Luck penalties start at 7 Fatigue.)
  • The third globe produced has no abilities/powers and is to be placed into the blue colored glass tube container adjacent to the globe machine.
  • The fourth globe produced casts a weaker version of the Protection From Normal Missiles spell on the selected target. It doesn't protect against as many projectiles. See the Bugs section below for Enhanced Edition players.

Bugs[]

In the Enhanced edition, the fourth blue globe produced (GLOBBLU3) has no extended effects data present in the file, including any Opcodes. Thus, the globe has no abilities.
