Black Bears are common creatures, roaming solitary or in packs in the wilderness areas of Baldur's Gate. They are non-hostile passive animals that like to wander, but will turn hostile if one lingers too closely. They drop no items when killed, and are often a favorite of Rangers as they can easily be charmed and fight for the party.

• "Talking" to a non-hostile black bear for long enough may result in an funny bit of dialogue.
