A wizard casts a Bigby's Crushing Hand spell to crush then pin to the ground a target creature for up to three rounds.

Description[]

This spell creates a huge disembodied fist that crushes the target and pins them to the ground. In the first round, the spell does 2d10 damage. The victim can save at -4 vs. Paralysis to avoid being pinned. In the second round, if the creature fails its Saving Throw, the hand does 3d10 damage. In the third round, if the creature fails its Saving Throw again (this time with only a -2 penalty), the hand does a final 4d10 damage and disappears.

Gameplay[]

The wizard directs this spell at a single target creature, the spell's range is 35 feet.

When the spell begins its effects on the target creature, a unique 3D graphics effect renders over the creature's sprite.

On the first round of the spell's duration:

If the target makes the saving throw, then for all intents and purposes, the spell is finished, and the victim may move again as normal.

However, if the saving throw is missed then:

On the second round of the spell's duration:

  • A Saving throw vs. Paralysis must be made, with a -4 penalty, or suffer 3d10 Crushing Damage.

If the second saving throw is made, the spell is finished.

On the third round of the spell's duration:

  • A Saving throw vs. Paralysis must be made, with a -2 penalty, or suffer 4d10 Crushing Damage, and the spell is finished.

This spell blocks immunity to the Unconsciousness Status Effects by disabling the Opcode that provides immunity - this means that every creature and player character in the game can be pinned by this spell, regardless of innate immunity to the Unconscious effect.

This spell can be blocked by Magic resistance, or Spell Immunity: Evocation, or with a spell protection such as Spell Deflection, Spell Turning, or Spell Trap and other similar Power level 8 blocking protections.

This spell can also be removed with various Dispel Magic effects.

Stoneskin will function against the crushing damage.

Otherwise, the targeted creature will experience the potential damage and disabling effects of this spell until it expires.

If made unconscious, the target will be Helpless and not awaken from taking further damage.
