Beyn is a fighter/mage, who is trapped on the Ice Island in Tales of the Sword Coast.
Together with Andris and Marcellus, the small group is waiting not far from the entrance to the maze to rob new visitors of their power for their own needs – with force!
Gameplay[]
- Beyn wears an undroppable necklace that grants a Minor Globe of Invulnerability for twelve minutes every time the area is loaded, indicated by the message "Shielded" (not to confuse with Shield) – which means immunity to spells of levels 1 to 3.
- During battle, Beyn will run through his progression of spells, but, he won't use the two Fireball spells unless the party has a single class cleric as a member and the cleric is within eyesight of him. So either Gorion's Ward is a cleric or Branwen and/or Viconia are members of the party and one of the three is within eyesight of him. Also, if the cleric comes into eyesight anytime before Beyn has finished casting his spells or is killed, he'll cast the Fireball spells towards the cleric.
- A multi-class cleric will not trigger the two Fireball spells.
- For enemies here with a similar style of combat, see Cuchol, Dezkiel, and Garan.
Trivia[]
- Though a fighter/mage, Beyn's creature file only has access to spells, not to the following weapons and other items he carries that are without assigned inventory slots and thus are not droppable:
- Regarding stats, inventory, memorized spells, and AI (with minor differences), the three fighter/mage's in the Ice Island maze – Beyn, Cuchol, and Dezkiel, along with the mage/thief Garan – are all created from the same creature template.
In Tales of the Sword Coast:
- Beyn's creature file has "Unknown" assigned as gender/sex, though the animation is that of a male human fighter/mage.
