AR1900BG1worldmap Bandit Camp is one of the areas from the World Map.

The Bandit Camp, located in the Wood of Sharp Teeth, is a secluded area on the Baldur's Gate map. It's the base of operations for the bandits who've been raiding caravans and plaguing travel all along the Coast Way. The existence of this area will not be revealed to the Gorion's Ward before Chapter Three and it must be discovered and explored to advance the primary story-line.

Discovering the Camp's Location[]

There are multiple ways to discover the camp's location after the player has cleared the Nashkel Mines. The first can be easily discerned by reading through the scrolls one will find in Mulahey's chest that trigger the start of Chapter Three; they reference a mage by the name of Tranzig, who may be tracked down at Feldepost's Inn in Beregost, and convinced by the player to give up the location of the camp.

Alternatively, many sources reference the Wood of Sharp Teeth to the northeast being overrun with bandits. A proper investigation of this area of the map will revel Raiken in Peldvale and Teven in Larswood, each of whom can be convinced to escort Gorion's Ward and party to the bandit camp, potentially allowing a peaceful infiltration of the camp.

The bandit Deke can also be met in the Coast Way area, and he can be convinced to reveal the camp's location after killing his bandit crew.

Whichever path you take, the end goal will remain the same; finding out who is pulling the strings in this mystery and where are they located.

Layout[]

The sprawling camp is comprised of six small tents which serve as shelter for the bandits, a large tent which serves as the leader's HQ, and a cave which is used as a sort of jailhouse for the camp. The camp is surrounded by forest and the remains of an ancient, unnamed structure lie to the south of the camp.

Camp Grounds[]

The western side of the camp is occupied by the Chill, a demi-human group of bandits commanded by the hobgoblin Ardenor Crush. The central and eastern side of the camp is occupied by the human Blacktalons commanded by Taurgosz Khosann. Both of these bandit groups are organized and led by the half-ogre known as Tazok.

Lootable containers are found throughout the camp and all chests are locked.

Cave[]

The large cave adjacent to the camp is occupied by Garclax and his clan of gnolls who've been sent there for causing a disturbance in the camp. The entrance to the cave is guarded by a hobgoblin who advises the party not to enter.

You not allowed in here! Gnolls kept in cave until tempers calm. If you go in there... don't expect to come out in one piece!

Small Tents[]

There are six small tents that are spread around the camp in no particular order and it's possible to explore five of the six. Occupants include a band of gnolls in the northernmost tent located to the left of the cave, a hobgoblin stock boy named Tersus in the westernmost tent, and a bandit named Knott in the tent below the entrance to the cave. The other two are unpopulated.

All five of the tents have lootable containers within them.

Tazok's Tent[]

Tazok's Tent is the large tent located in the eastern side of the camp. Inside are four guardians - the fighter Raemon, the mage Venkt, the gnoll Britik, and the hobgoblin elite Hakt - along with a prisoner, Ender Sai. After dealing with the guards and looting the place, your next objective should be made clear.

Note: Killing the four enemies in the tent will not turn the rest of the bandits hostile.

Area south of the Camp[]

Enemies are mostly found lurking around the old building ruins and consist mainly of hobgoblins, skeletons, or zombies.

Notable Treasure[]

Hakt carries the unique Longbow of Marksmanship and the trapped chest in Tazok's Tent contains the very rare Gauntlets of Weapon Expertise. Also, in the Enhanced Edition, one may find Venkt carrying a scroll of Spell Thrust - the only known copy in the original game.

And even if one peacefully infiltrated the camp, it's advisable to clear it as there is no penalty or downside. The benefits include a total of 4775 additional experience points, a extra net profit of 1,219gp, a Short Sword +1, a Medium Shield +1, a Wand of Fear (8 charges), and a War Hammer +1 along with the rare Full Plate Armor which are carried by Taurgosz.

Fireball and Web spell scrolls are in a locked chest(50) in the small tent directly south of Tazok's tent.

Note: For a complete listing of all loot found inside and outside the tents, see the Bandit Camp Tents and Tazok's Tent pages.
