Not to be confused with Baldur's Gate III.
You cannot kill guilt.

— The game's tagline

Baldur's Gate III: The Black Hound was supposed to be the third main game in the Baldur's Gate series. It was in development by Black Isle and went by the codenames FR6 and Project Jefferson. Production started in late 2000/early 2001, it was announced in 2002 and was meant to be released around Christmas 2003. It would have used 3rd Edition Dungeons & Dragons rules – like Icewind Dale II – and would have ran on the all new Jefferson Engine, which remains unused. Production was canceled in 2003 without any public announcement.

On June 6, 2019, Larian Studios announced in a Stadia Connect stream the development of Baldur's Gate III which will not be a continuation of The Black Hound.
