Baby Wyverns are essentially a 'lesser' Wyvern, commonly encountered in the Fourth Cloakwood area in Baldur's Gate. They are generally found not very far from adult wyverns, if not directly alongside. Like the adult variant, baby wyverns can poison their enemies but are overall much weaker combatants. Note also that they don't drop a Wyvern Head upon death.
Gameplay[]
This creature will move into melee range and attack the nearest detected opponent.
The baby wyvern has two different attack weapons that are used, and this is decided and executed by the creature's AI script.
See the Wing smash and Tail sting links on the InfoBox if interested.
Both of these attacks can occur, but the tail sting won't be tried until two rounds has elapsed when a creature is detected, presumably to set up a position to strike the targeted opponent.
The most hazardous effect from any Wyvern is the Poison status effect it can inflict, and multiple hits by the tail, with missed saving throws, will accumulate, and can rapidly cause significant damage. Keep those Antidote potions and Slow Poison spells ready.
Wyverns, including the baby variety have various immunities to some disabling spells, due to their flying ability - listed on the InfoBox.
