Axe of the Unyielding +5[]
Acquisition[]
Cespenar the imp can upgrade it to +5 with the Baalor's Claw component and a fee of 5,000 .
It can be bought in The Black Pits II: Gladiators of Thay at the beginning of Tier 5.
Description[]
“ | Enhanced by the magic of the balor's claw, the Axe of the Unyielding is now the most fearsome of weapons—a vorpal-edged axe capable of severing an opponent's head with a single blow. | ” |
Gameplay[]
When Axe of the Unyielding is upgraded, it is improved to +5 enchantment and corresponding increases to damage and to-hit abilities.
The wielder also benefits from a +1 Constitution bonus, and the Regeneration rate is boosted to 1 HP every 2 seconds.
Each hit on a target now has a 10% probability of inducing a Vorpal effect, unless the victim is able to make a Saving throw vs. Death with a 4-point penalty.
If the saving throw fails, then the combat log displays a text reading "Vorpal Hit".
The death type inflicted by the Vorpal Hit is the "chunked" variety.
Immunity to this status effect will prevent instant death.
Turning off the gore option in the game settings will disable the chunked death animation.
