Athkatla City Gates

The Athkatla City Gates is the exit point from Athkatla to other areas of Amn and the World Map during the Shadows of Amn campaign.

This small area consists of one street with a single building to enter.

It is necessary to walk through this area during the original Shadows of Amn to exit the city and gain access to any area outside of Athkatla, at least the first time you traverse the World Map. This is not true with the Enhanced Edition, as it is possible to access other areas of the World Map (de'Arnise Keep, Windspear Hills, Trademeet, and the Umar Hills) without even entering the City Gates area by first traveling to Watcher's Keep from any of the other six districts within the city.

Note: It is possible to sleep outdoors in the area without being roused by an Amnian Legionary.

Installation of the Check the Bodies (CtB) Mod and the "Velvetfoot" module will initiate in the Athkatla City Gates area if your PC is at least a level 10 Fighter Class, or is at least level 14 in another class. A Pirate will approach the party and have some bizarre statements for you to ponder.

Installation of the Rogue Rebalancing Mod will initiate a special cutscene and encounter in this area, unavoidably triggered upon attempting to leave the graveyard after defeating Bodhi. The Mod asks if you wish to install this component. This encounter is an especially difficult ambush with potentially deadly consequences but high rewards as well. There are opportunities to talk your way out of it, but one misstep in dialogue could derail that. This encounter may be one of the most difficult battles encountered by the party in the saga up to and including Chapter 6. Find out and try the challenge by facing the "Chosen of Cyric" lead by the Assassin Venduris. Unique loot rewards are available with a victory. Hint: Prebuffing is useless for this fight.
