Ashirukuru are a type of undead found in the Garden Maze room on Labyrinth Level 3 of Durlag's Tower. They are highly effective killing machines due to their ability to 'passively' turn invisible every combat round. This allows the creature to repeatedly backstab with a multiplier of 3, resulting in some significant damage.
They have high resistance to fire, cold, electricity and acid, no resistance to magic, and are not immune to normal weapons. They leave no treasure when killed. Because they're undead, Protection From Undead will make them ignore the affected character(s) and they can be Turned.
Trivia[]
- Baldur's Gate: Tales of the Sword Coast (1999)
This icon indicates content from the original Baldur's Gate: Tales of the Sword Coast campaign. As the race specter was only introduced in the original Baldur's Gate II: Shadows of Amn, ashirukuru are handled as being humans in the original Baldur's Gate: Tales of the Sword Coast. - These creatures do not appear in any AD&D rulebook and seem to be designed by BioWare specifically for the game. This makes their classification problematic, as there is little explanation what they actually are. They use a female elf rogue sprite with colors set to be partially transparent. Compared with their "Spectre" classification it's safe to assume they're supposed to be some type of ghost. Their name roughly translates to "Approaching Evil" in Japanese.[1]
- Baldur's Gate: Tales of the Sword Coast (1999)
This icon indicates content from the original Baldur's Gate: Tales of the Sword Coast campaign. Despite appearing as female thieves, their creature file's gender is given as male in the original game. The Enhanced Edition fixes this.
