The Alu-Fiend (20 Hit Dice) creature is a variety of fiend found as a potential random spawn in two areas inside the Watcher's Keep Teleport Maze, as well as a spawned creature during a particular phase of the final battle in The Throne of Bhaal.

Gameplay[]

The Alu-Fiend is designed to avoid melee combat initially during combat and throw it's Dart of Wounding ammunition by keeping distance from detected targets through maneuver.

Enemies detected will also be targeted with a super potent Charm person innate spell. Not only can it charm, but it also temporarily lowers the target's saving throws vs. Spells.

This charm can be used over and over again, as long as the fiend is still functioning, but the AI does keep track of which opponent it attempted to charm previously and will select another target if available.

If forced into melee combat, the fiend battles with its enchanted Water's Edge scimitar. The creature has no weapon proficiency with this weapon type, and thus gets a THAC0 penalty. The values in the InfoBox take this into account.

The fiend will attempt to depart the battlefield and flee via Dimension Door if its HP falls to only <25% remaining.

This creature may quaff a healing potion when damaged past a certain threshold. It may also apply an Oil of Speed if it detects an enemy creature with a Haste effect.
