Baldur's Gate Wiki

Ye know damn well that we only agreed to such a pact on the condition that there WAS treasure t' be found in that damn tomb!

— Aldun Forgecaster

Aldun Forgecaster is a character from Baldur's Gate II: Enhanced Edition and part of the Rasaad's Journey quest line.

He is a member of the Vagrant Blades located on the Abandoned Amphitheater map adjacent to a set of ruins where they have emerged from a recent Dungeon exploration.

Aldun is a Dwarven Illusionist with all of that Mage kit's abilities. If hostilities develop and given the opportunity, He will cast defensive spells on self, and then offensive magic after that. He is wearing a magical belt. Aldun may have some dialogue with those who interrupt their in-group argument. These dialogue selections will determine the direction of the encounter with the Vagrant Blades.

Once hostilities develop, Aldun will open with a Mirror Image and Protection From Normal Missiles preparatory buff. Next, he will attempt to Conjure Lesser Earth Elemental for support, and then aim a Hold Person (wizard) at a detected enemy nearest to him. As the battle progresses, Aldun can employ a Dispel Magic, some offensive damage spells such as Melf's Acid Arrow. He can apply another Mirror Image if his first is destroyed. Several other disabling and summoned creatures spell casts are provided in the script.

The memorized spells listed in the InfoBox are not really correct in terms of what the mage's script will use. For example, he won't use Stoneskin, Confusion, Cone of Cold, Sunfire and a few others. The memorized spells are not an accurate reflection of what the dwarf will attempt to cast.

The Sword Coast Stratagems mod provides a smarter AI and different memorized spell choices for the dwarf. He may be assigned an Invoker kit as well. Aldun will instantly launch a group of (previously cast) spells to include Fireshield (Red), Mirror Image, Shadow Door, Minor Globe of Invulnerability, Shield (spell), Protection From Normal Missiles, and Non-Detection.
