Baldur's Gate Wiki

Adjatha the Drinker is an enchanted Long Sword available only during a specific quest line during the Baldur's Gate II: Shadows of Amn or Baldur's Gate II: Enhanced Edition games.

Description

Adjatha the Drinker

This blade belonged to Dabbar, a long-dead servant of Bhaal that exercised control over his minions in the most brutal of ways. In addition to strengthening the mind against the guile of others, the sword absorbs life energy from an opponent with each successful hit, healing the user. Dabbar considered it a failure of his officers if he returned from battle in less than perfect health, and as the rest of the company watched, he would administer beatings until fully healed.

Gameplay[]

This long sword is a +2 enchanted blade that provides a 2-point THAC0 bonus and inflicts 1d8+2 Slashing damage - the weapon has a reach range of 1, and a Speed Factor of 3.

Each successful hit on a target creature heals the wielder's current hit point modifier value by 1 point, and a brief lighting and fade from color effect renders on the user's sprite, as well as a text string reading "Healed".

The healing effect cannot add hit points greater than the user's maximum hit point modifier, so basically if there is no hit point damage present on the sword bearer, then the no additional hit point is added, although the cosmetic effect and text will still render.

Additionally, while the sword is equipped, immunity to the Charmed status effect is provided, and the user's portrait will show an icon (No. 52) titled "Mind Shield".

The sword blocks any string references or status effect icons for being Dominated, Dire charmed and Charmed.
