Accessing the Warrens is a main quest in Baldur's Gate: Siege of Dragonspear.

Acquisition[]

The quest either naturally occurs when reaching the gates to the basement level of Dragonspear Castle or when given directions from Murs if she is championed during Murs and the Brigands.

Walkthrough[]

Upon reaching the gates that separate the Underground River from The Warrens, Gorion's Ward will be stopped by Turin Brassbreaker, an officer in the Shining Crusade who demands sufficient identification before she will allow access.

The player has three options; fight their way past Turin, sneak past Turin, or seek out a Seal of Caelar to gain authority. If they mention that they are part of the Alliance against the Shining Crusade, then of course Turin and her guards will attack.

Get a Seal[]

The player can acquire a Seal of Caelar by completing the quest Slime Sickness, also located in the Underground River. Other such Seals can be acquired at Underground River Entrance, and Dragonspear Castle Exterior. Unfortunately, if her reaction isn't high enough, she declares that it's insufficient proof to gain access; the Seal is the standard sign of membership in the Crusade, and access to the Warrens is restricted to high-ranking Crusaders. This means that the player must now decide if they want to fight or sneak their way past Turin.

Fight[]

The player can trigger combat by speaking to Turin and demanding to be let past, or by revealing their membership in the Alliance. Turin is worth 975 EXP and drops minor enchanted loot and arrows, whilst her guards are worth only 420 EXP each and drop nothing of interest.

Distraction[]

Speaking to the Crusaders at the fire just south of where Turin stands guard - Anji, Bardyla, and Spensse - will cause them to reveal a story about how a mercenary named Phaerus caused an immense ruckus by getting drunk and dropping a Potion of Fire Breath into the campfire, where it violently exploded and brought Turin running.

Clicking on the fire with the Potion of Fire Breath in the party's inventory will give them the option to stick the potion in the fire. This will bring Turin running to investigate and allow the party to move on through the doors into the Warrens, as well as rewarding the party with 6,000 EXP.

If the party doesn't already have a Potion of Fire Breath, one can be found amongst the crates at the entrance-way camp, next to Ladle.

Unconfirmed[]

If the player has Keherrem's Badge, they can show it to her to prove that they are part of the Shining Crusade but she will inform them that access to the Warrens is restricted to higher-ranking members of the Crusade; that token is insufficient proof to gain access. [verification needed]

Chapter Warning[]

Once the party enters the Warrens, they can lock themselves out of visiting many previous locations, such as Dragonspear Castle Exterior, since the Warrens may trigger the shift to the finale of Chapter Ten.
